“So, have you changed your mind about Strategy?” I asked her.
“Maybe,” she shrugged. “It still seems like a lot of work.”
“Did you expect your life to be easy?”
She looked me hard in the eye. “Do you really think that I can’t see past your Socratic question when you have taught me all about Socratic questions?” she asked.
What can I say? Her Socratic question worked. It got me thinking about my own assumptions.
Suddenly, she was laughing. “You should see the look on your face,” she gasped between breaths. “I think that I actually got you that time.”
I was instantly thinking something else. “Ha, ha, very funny. Are you gonna answer my question?”
She was catching her breath when she answered. “What was the question again?”
“What are your thoughts about strategy?”
“I still don’t know why you gave him three heads,” she replied, and burst out laughing again. She was referring to my second book, Turbulent Tides, in which I gave the character of Strategy three heads.
“You know why I gave him three heads,” I said, feeling a bit defensive about one of my favorite characters.
“Yeah, sure,” she admitted still laughing. “One is the explorer, one is the the navigator, and one is the workhorse. The three parts together make strategy possible. Dream first, plan next, learn to train your habits.” I let her laugh it out. I even started to giggle. Eventually she recovered enough to say, “Yeah, I get Strategy. He even looks cute with his three heads.”
This time we both started laughing. We were still laughing as we completed this post.

"Ironic," I admitted at last. "We have to do a Whackadoodle episode on strategy, but I have yet to develop a strategy for writing it." "I think we should begin by explaining the difference between tactics and strategy," she suggested. "Lots of people get confused by the difference."
Navigating a Whackadoodle World: Episode 19; or Strategies and tactics don’t always lead to good, do they?
“I heard you scream in my head last night while I was watching the news,” she informed me without looking up from her book. “What’s that?” I asked. “I hope I didn’t scream anything stupid.”

Navigating a Whackadoodle World: Episode 34, or Why the creative mind is the first step in strategy
“So, this is the week we take on strategy,” she said pulling out a note pad. “You make it sound like getting ready for a marathon,” I told her. "If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..."
“Okay, we have posted our links,” she said. “Now we remind people that if they know someone who could use the guideposts, they can share this post with a friend.” She posted the link and looked up.
“And for our fun quick post?” she asked.
“How about the one about the riddle game?”
“Sounds good to me.”
