A Whackadoodle Poll: Are You Using Twitter Now That It's X (formerly Twitter)?
Are you still using Twitter, now that it's called X (formerly know as Twitter), which I will soon be calling TwiXter.
I remember that when Twitter came out, I kept thinking, “How can anyone write anything worthwhile in 140 characters?” Then the company doubled the character limit to 280, and people started putting (1 of 10 ) in their twitter feeds. It seems to make a bit more sense.
Then one day, I realized how the @rachelmaddow thing worked. I could send her a direct message. Of course there was no guarantee that she would read it, but it seemed like a cool way to get people’s attention, comments on posts, introduce new conversations. I still hardly used Twitter, but at least I now understood the attraction. I did play with it occasionally, and I followed a few of my favorites.
I would look at my email inbox, and find that cute little bird, and I’d be curious enough to click on it. However, everything has changed since the bird is now some ominous X. I don’t even read the people I had followed anymore. And the thought of tweeting my own posts, just kind of grosses me out.
So here’s my poll:
Thanks for playing, and I look forward to your answers, and comments. I’d really like to know if there is an alternative that works. I actually found an pretty good article on Livewire that list the ten most popular options, but I would like to know what you think.
