In 1607, the British poet and playwright William Congreve wrote The Mourning Bride. In it, he wrote a simple phrase that has been been echoing for centuries: Music hath charms to sooth a savage breast.
Well, the 2024 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film, The Last Repair Shop, proves that music can also repair lives. The documentary short contains 40 minutes of smiles, tears, and inspiration.
It tells the story of a Los Angeles School District’s musical instrument repair shop, the people who work there, and the students who benefit from their work.
